Job Description

Tool Room Mechanic Company Overview:

Duties and Responsibilities:
Tool and Equipment Maintenance:
Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on a variety of tools and equipment. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues with tools and machinery. Perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Repair and Calibration:
Identify and repair or replace faulty components in tools and machinery. Calibrate tools to meet precision and accuracy standards. Collaborate with other departments to address specific tooling requirements.
Inventory Management:
Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment. Collaborate with procurement to order necessary components and supplies. Track and manage stock levels to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
Qualifications and Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications in mechanics or machining are a plus. Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably in a tool room or manufacturing environment. Proficient in the use of various machining tools and equipment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues. Attention to detail and a commitment to precision and quality work.
Safety Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old. Adhere to all Southland Steel Fabricator's, Inc. Safety Rules, Policies, and Procedures. Attend all required safety meetings Inspect equipment prior to work each day to ensure it is free of defects. Always use tools safely with correct guards in place. Wear personal protective equipment in accordance with policy and adequate for specific tasks.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
To do the job, the following physical requirements are necessary: Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to withstand frequent bending, squatting, or crouching. Ability to frequently handle (hold, seize, grasp, turn, etc.) equipment or material. Ability to work in inclement weather conditions, to include cold, heat, and humidity.
