Job Description

Working Title:
Equipment Operator CDL Job Summary:
Under immediate supervision performs semi-skilled work in operating a limited variety of hauling, construction, and maintenance equipment in the maintenance of City roads, right of ways, and all other city properties.

Assistant Director of Streets Supervises:
N/A Examples of Duties Examples of Work:
{Illustrative Only) Operates any of the following types of equipment: boom truck, street sweeper, street patching machine, dump truck, tractor, and related equipment, used to maintain and repair right of ways and beautify City property. Checks and fuels vehicles and perform light mechanical adjustments. Assists mechanic in performing repairs on assigned equipment. May distribute asphalt using specialized equipment, load and unload trucks. Performs various manual tasks involved in repairing roads and all other city properties. Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

Typical Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to safely operate, maintain, and perform minor repairs on medium equipment; ability to understand and carry out routine oral and written instructions; ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees; ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather
Acceptable Training and Experiences:
High school diploma or GED and two (2) years' experience operating related equipment. Certificates and/or
Licenses:
Must possess and maintain a valid Louisiana Driver's License and must have the ability to obtain a Class (A) Commercial Driver's License within the first (6) months of employment. Supplemental information The City of Hammond is an
