OUR MISSION
The Red River, Atchafalaya & Bayou Boeuf Levee District serves portions of Avoyelles, Rapides & St. Landry parishes.
Levees in the district include:
Red River Levee, Big Bend-Bayou Des Glaises Loop Levee, Rigolette Levee, Mansura Hills to Hamburg Levee, Bayou Des Glaises Fuse Plug Levee, West Atchafalaya River Levee, and West Atchafalaya Basin Protection Levee. The District has 5 commissioners. There are 19 employees, with maintenance crews in each parish. Heavy equipment is maintained for levee and drainage maintenance. About the position The Mobile Equipment Operator 1/Heavy is a valuable part of the Red River, Atchafalaya & Bayou Boeuf Levee District because of their role in operating heavy mobile equipment and performing incidental repairs, levee board projects, and other construction tasks. Assist other RRABB employees in completing levee board projects. This incumbent will work under the supervision of Levee Foreman B. Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience in mobile equipment operations. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:
Operates heavy equipment as the primary or regular job function, especially during the dry season Such heavy equipment includes, but is not limited to, the following Bulldozers, Tractors, Backhoes, etc. Operates auxiliary equipment Such auxiliary equipment includes, but is not limited to, the following Dump trucks, lawn tractors, small riding equipment, small power equipment, or any other equipment listed for lower graded operators' positions. Operates other equipment enumerated for lower graded equipment operators when necessary to accomplish work objectives. Performs incidental repair, levee inspections, levee board projects, and other construction tasks. Assists other RRABB employees in completing levee board projects. Helps operate flood control structures and pumping stations when necessary. Makes minor repairs to equipment and assists with the maintenance/repair of RRABB equipment.
