Job Description
Assistant Golf Course Mechanic Position Summary Myopia Hunt Club is seeking an Assistant Golf Course Mechanic to assist with the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of equipment used to maintain our golf course and grounds. The successful candidate will work closely with our Equipment Manager to ensure equipment is properly maintained, safe, reliable, and ready for daily use. This is an excellent opportunity for a retired mechanic, an experienced mechanic looking for additional part-time work, a technical or vocational school student seeking hands-on experience, or a mechanically inclined individual looking to develop new skills and gain practical experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and an interest in maintaining and repairing a variety of equipment. Experience with small engines, turf equipment, utility vehicles, diesel equipment, or hydraulics is helpful but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn. Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on golf course and grounds equipment Assist with diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues Assist with the maintenance and repair of mowers, utility vehicles, small engines, and other grounds equipment Perform oil changes, lubrication, adjustments, and other preventive maintenance Assist the Equipment Manager with more involved repairs, maintenance projects, and seasonal preparation Help ensure equipment is clean, safe, reliable, and ready for daily use Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Follow proper safety procedures and equipment-maintenance practices Qualifications Mechanical experience is preferred but not required Mechanical aptitude and an interest in equipment repair and maintenance Technical or vocational school students are encouraged to apply Willingness to learn and develop new mechanical skills Dependable, responsible, and able to work both independently and as part of a team Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools Valid driver's license This position may be an excellent fit for: A retired mechanic looking to stay active and work part-time An experienced mechanic looking for additional work or a flexible schedule A technical or vocational school student looking to gain valuable, hands-on experience Someone interested in beginning a career in equipment mechanics A mechanically inclined individual who enjoys working with their hands and learning new skills
