The Fleet Mechanic is an essential member of our operations team, responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment to ensure our crews have safe, reliable, and properly functioning equipment every day. Based in Plymouth, Massachusetts, this full-time position works primarily out of our state-of-the-art 11,000-square-foot shop, with occasional road service and field repairs as needed. The ideal Fleet Mechanic has strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, takes pride in quality workmanship, and is comfortable working on a wide variety of landscape and commercial equipment. This position is well suited for an experienced mechanic who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and working in a fast-paced environment while contributing to the success of the company's field operations.

FLEET MECHANIC OBJECTIVES
Maintain, diagnose, and repair company vehicles, landscape equipment, and small engines to ensure safe and reliable operation. Perform preventive maintenance and routine service on fleet vehicles and equipment. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and engine-related issues. Perform repairs on a diverse range of equipment, including pickup trucks, small dump trucks, loaders, excavators, skid steers, mowers, and small engines. Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform road or field repairs when necessary. Accurately identify the parts, tools, and materials required to complete repairs. Complete maintenance records, shop paperwork, and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Communicate equipment issues, repair needs, and parts requirements with management and operations personnel. Maintain an organized, clean, and safe shop and work environment. Follow established safety procedures and best practices for all repairs and equipment operation. Inspect equipment and identify potential maintenance or safety concerns before they become larger issues. Work collaboratively with operations and field teams to minimize equipment downtime. Maintain a high standard of quality and workmanship in all repairs and maintenance performed. Participate in ongoing training and skill development related to fleet maintenance and repair.
FLEET MECHANIC COMPETENCIES
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities. Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and engine systems. Ability to diagnose and repair a variety of vehicles and landscape equipment. Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment. Ability to read and follow service manuals, repair procedures, and technical documentation. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Ability to prioritize repairs based on safety, urgency, and operational needs. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with operations and management. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to maintain accurate repair and maintenance records. Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Flexibility to perform both in-shop and roadside/field repairs. Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.

FLEET MECHANIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
We offer competitive pay based on experience and qualifications. A minimum of 5 years of relevant mechanical experience is preferred. Candidates should have demonstrated experience working on a variety of vehicles and equipment, including pickup trucks, dump trucks, loaders, excavators, skid steers, mowers, small engines, or similar equipment. Formal automotive or diesel mechanic training is a plus but not required. Welding and fabrication experience is also a plus. Candidates with strong mechanical skills, practical experience, and a willingness to continue learning are encouraged to apply.
FLEET MECHANIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role involves working primarily in a shop environment, with occasional outdoor and roadside/field work in varying weather conditions. Tasks may include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, and working in confined or awkward positions for extended periods. The job requires the ability to regularly lift and carry tools, parts, and equipment, with occasional lifting of heavier items. Candidates must have the physical ability to safely perform mechanical repairs, operate shop equipment, and respond to equipment breakdowns in the field when necessary.
