Job Summary:
Work involves responsibility for performing semiskilled tasks in the servicing, maintenance and repair of company vehicles and equipment. Mechanics Helper usually assists a Heavy Equipment Mechanic on complex repair jobs. However, the employee is expected to perform routine daily tasks independently.Responsibilities of the position are:
As a mechanic helper you are required to assist mechanic in performing daily repair and maintenance task as listed, but not limited to the following;- Perform repairs as well as preventative maintenance on both equipment and facility machinery in order to achieve peak performance, production and safe operation.
- Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate repairs.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and hydraulic related failures.
- Conducts safety checks on equipment and vehicles.
- Complete daily maintenance, inspection records, work orders, safety and DOT paper work.
- Assist as needed on a daily basis as circumstances arise.
- Effectively communicate with operators.
- Clean and maintain work area.
- Turn off and lock out equipment during repairs.
- Acquire tools to perform heavy mechanical repairs.
Qualifications:
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers.
- Must possess the ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License
- Must provide acceptable driving history.
