Job Overview Huron County Road Commission is seeking a skilled Mechanic/Fabricator to join our team. We are looking for an individual with strong welding, metal fabrication and equipment modification experience who can help build, repair and improve the trucks, plows, trailers and heavy equipment that keep Huron County roads safe year-round. Duties Fabricate, weld and modify components for trucks, plows, trailers and road maintenance equipment. Design and perform custom repairs to keep equipment operating efficiently. Repair and maintain heavy trucks, diesel engines, hydraulic systems and related equipment. Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical issues using service manuals and diagnostic equipment. Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on fleet vehicles and equipment. Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform field repairs when needed. Qualifications Experience in welding, metal fabrication and equipment modification required. Knowledge of MIG, TIG, stick welding, cutting and metalworking techniques. Experience with heavy trucks, diesel engines, hydraulics and construction equipment preferred. Ability to read blueprints, schematics and service manuals. CDL Class A or B, or ability to obtain one.
