We are seeking a skilled and reliable Heavy Duty Semi Trailer Body Mechanic to join our team. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing structural and body-related damage on semi-trailers. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with trailer body work, welding, and fabrication, and takes pride in producing high-quality repairs in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform structural and body repairs on semi-trailers, including dry vans, reefers, flatbeds, and tankers Repair or replace damaged panels, floors, roofs, doors, rails, and structural components Conduct aluminum and steel welding, cutting, and fabrication as needed Straighten frames and align trailer components to manufacturer specifications Install and repair trailer doors, hinges, seals, and locking mechanisms Perform minor mechanical repairs related to body components Inspect trailers for damage and provide accurate repair assessments Maintain a clean and safe work environment Follow all safety procedures and company standards
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in semi-trailer body repair or similar field Strong welding and fabrication skills (MIG preferred; aluminum experience a plus) Ability to read and interpret repair orders and technical instructions Familiarity with trailer components and structural systems Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a physically demanding environment Valid driver's license required (CDL a plus but not required) Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
Preferred Skills:
Experience with fiberglass repair and roof patching Knowledge of DOT inspection requirements Previous experience in a fleet or heavy-duty repair shop
