Buckingham, an LJP Company, is seeking a dependable and skilled Fleet Technician to support the maintenance, diagnostics, inspection, and repair of company vehicles and equipment. This role is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, conducting inspections, and completing repairs to ensure fleet vehicles remain safe, reliable, and compliant with regulatory standards. The Fleet Technician plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, supporting operational efficiency, and extending the lifespan of fleet assets. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, diagnostic skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively within a fast-paced maintenance environment. We are seeking an individual who is safety-focused, dependable, solution-oriented, and committed to keeping our fleet operating at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance and oil changes on garbage trucks, roll-off trucks, and skid steer equipment in the recycling center. Conduct maintenance and repairs as needed on all trucks in the fleet to ensure safe and reliable operation. Diagnose and perform large-scale repairs on trucks that may break down during the day. Conduct DOT inspections to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Identify and source necessary parts for repairs, ensuring minimal downtime for fleet vehicles. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently and effectively. Respond to urgent maintenance needs and adapt to other repair tasks that may arise throughout the day. Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed.
Requirements Qualifications and Skills:
Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy-duty equipment technician. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems. Familiarity with garbage trucks, roll-off trucks, and skid steer equipment preferred. Ability to conduct DOT inspections and ensure compliance with safety standards. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues. Effective communication skills and ability to work independently. Knowledge of parts sourcing and inventory management. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy tools and parts (up to 50 lbs). Comfortable working in various environments, including outdoors and in workshop settings. Capacity to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
License/Certification:
