Role:
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to maintain and repair a diverse fleet of diesel-powered trucks and heavy equipment. The fleet includes more than 20 pieces of equipment, such as pickup trucks, water trucks, pump trucks, vacuum trucks, vans, excavators, and skid steers. This is a direct-hire, full-time position based primarily in a repair shop, with occasional fieldwork.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday Starts at 6:30 a.m. and continues until daily assignments are completed Typically 8-12 hours per day Approximately 40-60+ hours per week, with overtime available 100% onsite
Key Responsibilities:
Heavy Equipment Maintenance:
Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel-powered trucks, heavy equipment, and fleet vehicles.
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, transmissions, drivetrains, suspensions, and related components.
Parts Management:
Order, organize, and track parts and supplies to support timely repairs.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the Foreman and fleet personnel to complete complex repairs and prioritize equipment needs.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate inspection, maintenance, and repair records.
Equipment Readiness:
Complete safe and efficient repairs while identifying root causes and minimizing equipment downtime.
Qualifications:
Mechanic Experience:
Five or more years of professional mechanic experience is strongly preferred. Candidates with fewer years may be considered if they have exceptional hands-on experience and technical ability.
Diesel Experience:
Must have experience diagnosing and repairing diesel-powered trucks or heavy equipment.
Diagnostic and Hydraulic Experience:
Strong diagnostic ability and hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems are required.
Electrical Systems:
Experience troubleshooting and repairing vehicle or equipment electrical systems.
Valid Driver's License:
A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required. A CDL is preferred but not required.
Personal Tools:
Must provide a personal set of professional diesel-mechanic tools.
Availability:
Must be able to work extended days and overtime based on operational needs.
Heavy Equipment Experience:
Experience with vacuum trucks, water trucks, pump trucks, waste-industry machinery, excavators, or skid steers is preferred. Training on vacuum trucks and company-specific equipment will be provided.
Required:
5+ years; hydraulic/electrical systems; inventory management; detail oriented; organized
Military Preference:
Veterans, National Guard members, Reservists, and military spouses are highly preferred but not required.

Additional Information:
This position reports to the Foreman, with oversight from fleet and regional leadership. The work is performed primarily inside a repair shop, although occasional field service may be required. Onsite parking is available. Easterseals
