The key role for this position includes inspecting, repairing and performing preventative maintenance on the mechanical components of diesel locomotives.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine inspections and service in accordance with company, industry and federal standards
• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in diesel engines, air brake systems, fuel systems and other issues related to the locomotive mechanical systems Repair, replace or rebuild locomotives and diesel engine components as needed Communicate technical information, job procedure recommendations and other work-related information with others in organization
• Complete required paperwork associated with repairs, maintenance and inspections Organize, clean, and maintain a safe work area Model safe work habits and always abide by all safety policies and procedures Safely and efficiently perform all other duties as required.

Position Requirements:

2+ years' experience as a locomotive or diesel mechanic is required; Certification is a plus Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Must possess a willingness to learn Ability to muti-task, manage multiple repairs and use available time to organize and complete work within given timeframe Must possess a valid driver's license

Physical Requirements:

Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. occasionally Able to use hands to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning, and pulling Able to work on uneven surfaces; frequently climb on/off equipment; work on/around heavy/moving machinery; bend, walk, stand, and sit for extended time Wear required personal protective equipment
