Forklift Mechanic First in Service - 3.4 Newark, NJ Job Details Full-time $25 - $30 an hour 21 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Vision insurance 401(k) matching Qualifications Spanish Mechanic experience English High school diploma or GED Attention to detail Full Job Description Our client, a leader in the food industry, is seeking an experienced Forklift Mechanic to join their team in Jersey City, NJ. The Forklift Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing material-handling equipment to ensure safe and efficient warehouse operations. Key Responsibilities Perform routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance on forklifts and material-handling equipment. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and brake system issues. Perform repairs on forklift masts and attachment components. Complete tire and wheel changes as needed. Interpret manufacturer technical manuals to properly diagnose and complete repairs. Replace defective or damaged parts and order replacement parts when necessary. Reassemble equipment and make necessary adjustments to ensure safe operation. Conduct safety inspections before returning forklifts to operation. Complete preventative maintenance documentation and service logs accurately. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow all company safety procedures and requirements. Stay current on new equipment, technology, and repair techniques. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Relevant license/certification preferred. 1-2 years of forklift or material-handling equipment maintenance/repair experience or an equivalent combination of education and training. Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, brake, mast, and attachment systems. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions. Strong attention to safety and detail. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Compensation $25.00-$30.00 per hour , based on experience, skills, qualifications, education, and other job-related factors.
