Where You Will Work Chino is an open-pit copper mining complex located 15 miles from the historic mining community of Silver City in southwestern New Mexico. The historic Chino mine was among the world's first low-grade, open-pit copper mines. Today, the operation consists of a 36,000-metric-ton-per-day concentrator that produces copper and a 150-million-pound-per-year solvent extraction/electrowinning plant that produces copper cathode from solution generated by run-of-mine leaching. • Assists with and performs diagnostic, replacement and repairs on, but not limited to: engines, transmissions and transaxles, manual drive train and axles, suspension, steering, brakes, clutches, AC units and electric motors.
• Performs mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance to include: oil and lube service, coolant system flush, transmissions services, filter and gasket checks, checking of water pumps, thermostats, belts, radiator hoses and clutch fans.
• May be required to perform welding tasks, such as: Carbon Arc and MIG.
• May operate equipment such as: forklifts, cranes, and small mobile equipment.
• Responsible for maintaining Work Orders, a clean and safe work area and performing work area inspections.
• Perform other duties as required. ## What You Bring To Freeport
• One (1) year experience in Light Duty Equipment mechanical/maintenance or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance
• Knowledge of basic electrical
• Ability to read and use schematics.
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude.

The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety. ## Preferred Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• ASE certifications
• Knowledge and ability to use various computer aided diagnostic tools What We Offer You The estimated pay range for this role is currently $23.

00 - $31.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
