Job Description
Leaf Spring / Suspension Mechanic Watkins Spring - Albany, NY Full-Time Position Watkins Spring Company is looking for a dependable and experienced Leaf Spring / Suspension Mechanic to join our team. We specialize in heavy-duty suspension repair, including leaf springs, air springs, shocks, and related suspension components for trucks, trailers, commercial vehicles, and other heavy-duty equipment. Experience working specifically with leaf springs is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate who has a strong mechanical background, a good work ethic, and experience working on trucks or heavy equipment. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair leaf spring and suspension problems Remove, repair, replace, and install leaf springs Replace shocks, air springs, bushings, hangers, shackles, U-bolts, and other suspension components Perform suspension inspections and identify worn or damaged parts Safely lift and support trucks, trailers, and commercial vehicles Use shop equipment, power tools, torches, presses, and other mechanical tools Complete repairs accurately and efficiently Communicate with the service manager and parts department regarding needed repairs and parts Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Follow all company procedures and workplace safety requirements Perform other heavy-duty mechanical repairs as needed Qualifications Previous automotive, diesel, truck, trailer, suspension, or heavy-equipment repair experience preferred Leaf spring and suspension experience is a plus Strong mechanical ability and problem-solving skills Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, torches, jacks, and lifting equipment Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, standing, and working underneath vehicles Dependable, punctual, and able to work well with others Willingness to learn Watkins Spring's repair methods and quality standards Valid driver's license preferred Welding and fabrication experience is a plus What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and understands that quality and safety come first.
