About the Role We are seeking an experienced Forklift Mechanic with hands-on expertise in Crown lift trucks to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair material handling equipment in a busy warehouse operation. The right person keeps the fleet running safely and minimizes downtime so the floor never stops moving. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Crown forklifts, including reach trucks, order pickers, stand-up counterbalance units, pallet jacks, and stackers Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, including AC/DC drive motors, controllers, contactors, wiring harnesses, mast assemblies, and brake systems Use Crown diagnostic tools and onboard systems (Access 1-2-3, InfoLink) to read fault codes and identify root causes Maintain and service industrial batteries and chargers: watering, cleaning, cable and connector repair, and load testing Complete scheduled PM inspections and document all work performed, parts used, and equipment hours Order and track parts inventory; recommend repairs versus replacement on aging units Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns on the warehouse floor to limit operational downtime Follow OSHA and site safety standards, including lockout/tagout procedures Communicate equipment status and safety concerns to warehouse leadership Requirements 2-3 years of experience as a forklift or material handling equipment mechanic in a warehouse or distribution environment Demonstrated experience servicing Crown forklifts specifically Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulics, and schematics Ability to diagnose problems independently and complete repairs with minimal supervision Own basic hand tools Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in standing, kneeling, and bending positions for extended periods Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to Suffern, NY Preferred Crown factory training or certification Experience with other brands (Raymond, Toyota, Hyster-Yale) Forklift operator certification Basic computer skills for work orders and maintenance logs
