We are seeking an experienced and dependable Fleet Mechanic to help maintain the vehicles and equipment that support our daily operations. Position Summary The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing company vehicles, machinery, and related equipment. This position requires strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to completing work safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem-solver who can work independently, accurately document completed work, and help ensure our fleet remains safe, reliable, and ready for operation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues. Perform routine and preventive maintenance according to established schedules. Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify existing or potential problems. Recommend necessary repairs, replacements, or additional maintenance. Use diagnostic tools, equipment, and software to troubleshoot engine and system problems. Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment. Test vehicles and equipment following repairs to confirm proper and safe operation. Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, maintenance performed, and parts used. Assist with tracking preventive-maintenance schedules and upcoming service needs. Ensure all repairs and maintenance comply with company safety requirements, manufacturer specifications, and applicable quality standards. Follow proper procedures for the handling, storage, and disposal of fluids, batteries, parts, and other materials. Maintain tools and equipment in safe, clean, and working condition. Keep the shop and surrounding work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards. Monitor inventory and notify management when replacement parts, supplies, or tools are needed. Stay current with industry advancements, diagnostic methods, and new vehicle and equipment technologies. Communicate equipment conditions, repair needs, and completion timelines to the appropriate supervisor. Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Previous professional experience performing mechanical maintenance and repairs. Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Ability to diagnose equipment problems and determine appropriate repairs. Experience using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic tools, and shop equipment. Ability to read and understand service manuals, technical instructions, diagrams, and maintenance schedules. Ability to maintain accurate and complete repair records. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Preferred Qualifications Completion of a vocational, technical, or automotive/diesel-mechanic training program. Experience maintaining fleet vehicles, diesel engines, heavy equipment, or industrial machinery. ASE certification or other relevant mechanical certifications. Welding or fabrication experience. Experience using electronic diagnostic software and computerized maintenance-record systems. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or the ability to obtain one. Physical Requirements and Work Environment This is a hands-on position performed in a shop, yard, and operational environment. The Fleet Mechanic must be able to: Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and work in confined or awkward positions. Regularly lift, carry, push, or pull tools, parts, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; heavier items must be moved with assistance or appropriate equipment. Safely operate tools, machinery, vehicles, and diagnostic equipment. Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and temperature conditions. Work around moving equipment, machinery, noise, grease, fumes, dust, and other conditions commonly found in a mechanical or industrial setting. Wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety-toe footwear. Maintain the visual and auditory ability necessary to identify mechanical problems and work safely. Compensation and Benefits The hourly pay range for this position is $24.00-$31.00 , depending on the candidate's experience, skills, certifications, and overall qualifications.
