Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and construction equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will keep our fleet operating smoothly, enabling us to meet project deadlines and uphold safety standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity for mechanics with a passion for industrial equipment, diesel engines, and construction machinery maintenance to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, bulldozers, loaders, and other construction machinery. Conduct electrical diagnostics and troubleshoot electrical systems on various OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) equipment. Maintain and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, brakes, air brakes, HVAC systems, and steering components. Use schematics and technical manuals to accurately diagnose issues and execute repairs efficiently. Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to ensure equipment longevity. Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, tire service, alignment checks, and equipment servicing to minimize downtime. Assist in heavy lifting operations when required and ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications. Qualifications Proven experience working as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or Service Technician with dealership experience preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge of construction machinery maintenance, automotive diagnostics, and equipment troubleshooting. Proficiency in electrical diagnostics, schematics reading, diesel engine repair, HVAC systems, and hydraulic systems. Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; familiarity with power tools is essential. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using appropriate equipment such as cranes or forklifts. Knowledge of OEM parts and systems for Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu or similar brands is highly desirable. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and team members.
