Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm Position Overview A Metrology Technician applies practical knowledge of metrology to calibrate and validate measuring instruments and equipment for the enterprise. This includes ensuring that the evaluated equipment meets requirements for precision, performance and accuracy, equipment documentation and repairs, as well as documenting the quality control process. Essential Functions Maintains all minor equipment used in blood collection including Welch Allyns, blood mixers, Hemocues, OrSense devices, and digital scales Performs periodic and annual QC on Welch Allyns, Digimono 1000, weight sets, and probe testers Travels to Centers and Mobiles within a defined service area to perform periodic and annual QC Assists in scheduling and calibration of regulated laboratory equipment Orders all minor machines and re-orders parts as needed Orders and documents whole blood unit numbers and coordinates with Team Leaders on ordering apheresis numbers Maintains updated maintenance and QC paperwork on all minor equipment, as well as validations, repairs, and instillations Orders and documents asset tags for all company-wide minor equipment Maintains organized workspace Stages minor equipment for daily collections Orders equipment through purchasing online ticket system (PROS) Reports on equipment failures/issues to facilities for repairs needed Other duties as assigned or required Minimum Qualifications 2-year Associates Degree and/or Technical Degree Job related experience preferred Valid Driver's License with no major infractions and dependable transportation Excellent customer services skills Understands and follows written and verbal instructions Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously to patrons, donors, sponsors and co-workers Ability to work with all levels and in a diverse work environment Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and peers Ability to work weekends Some travel may be required Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
