McKinney Excavating | East Tennessee McKinney Excavating is looking for an experienced Senior Field Technician to join our team and keep our heavy equipment fleet working in the field. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows heavy equipment, can diagnose problems under pressure, and takes pride in keeping machines productive. Our fleet includes John Deere, CAT, and other heavy construction equipment , and our field technicians play a critical role in keeping jobs moving. What You'll Do Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy construction equipment in the field Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems Service and repair John Deere and CAT equipment Respond to field breakdowns and minimize equipment downtime Perform inspections and identify potential issues before they become major repairs Work closely with operators, mechanics, and project management to prioritize repairs Maintain accurate service and repair records Help mentor less-experienced technicians and contribute to a strong maintenance team Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment What We're Looking For 5+ years of experience servicing and repairing heavy construction equipment Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills Experience with CAT and John Deere equipment Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and diesel systems Ability to diagnose problems using electronic diagnostic tools Strong understanding of preventative maintenance Ability to work independently in the field and make sound repair decisions Valid driver's license Welding/fabrication experience is a plus The Right Person We're looking for someone who doesn't just replace parts — you figure out what's wrong and fix it.
