Automation Department Manager Position Summary The Automation Mechanical Supervisor oversees the inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of SGPS ShowRig's rental servo winches and related automation equipment. This position supervises Mechanical Technicians, coordinates daily workloads, and ensures equipment meets established quality, performance, and safety standards while supporting departmental operations and production schedules. Key Responsibilities Supervise and provide daily direction to Mechanical Technicians, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards. Oversee the inspection, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of rental servo winches and related automation equipment. Plan, prioritize, and assign daily work orders to meet equipment readiness requirements and production deadlines. Provide technical guidance and hands-on assistance in diagnosing and resolving mechanical equipment issues. Train, mentor, and support Mechanical Technicians in developing their technical skills and improving overall performance. Monitor employee productivity, work quality, and performance, providing coaching and feedback as needed. Ensure equipment is properly inspected, serviced, tested, and maintained before being returned to rental inventory or prepared for deployment. Identify damaged, defective, or unsafe equipment and ensure it is removed from service until properly repaired. Maintain and review accurate records of equipment inspections, testing, preventive maintenance, and repairs. Coordinate with other departments to ensure equipment availability and address operational priorities. Monitor workflow, allocate resources effectively, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and equipment reliability. Provide management with updates on team performance, equipment condition, work progress, and operational concerns. Enforce company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements while promoting a safe and organized work environment. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, tools, and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant technical education or mechanical certification preferred. Previous experience inspecting, testing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment required. Experience with servo winches, automation equipment, or related mechanical systems preferred. Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting abilities, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical maintenance equipment. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, train, and work collaboratively with others. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality, accuracy, and workplace safety. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and adapt to changing priorities. Willingness to participate in ongoing technical training and professional development. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while supervising operations and performing equipment inspections and repairs. Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and move around equipment and workstations. Use hands and fingers to handle tools, mechanical components, and equipment. Perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements associated with equipment maintenance and repair. Lift, carry, push, and pull equipment, tools, and mechanical components, with assistance or appropriate lifting equipment when necessary. Maintain sufficient vision, hearing, and coordination to safely inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment. Working Conditions Work is primarily performed in a warehouse, shop, or equipment maintenance environment. May be exposed to machinery, moving equipment, mechanical components, and moderate to high noise levels. Work areas may experience seasonal temperature fluctuations depending on warehouse operations. Required PPE must be worn as applicable, including safety footwear, safety glasses, gloves, and other protective equipment. Work schedules may vary based on operational needs and production deadlines, including occasional overtime or weekends.
