Field Service Technician - Heavy Equipment We are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to join a growing heavy equipment service team. This position is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of heavy construction and rental equipment at customer and field locations. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, dirt-moving equipment, aerial equipment, and lifting equipment and is comfortable troubleshooting complex equipment independently in the field.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel equipment failures. Perform field maintenance, repairs, rebuilds, and component replacements on heavy equipment. Service a variety of dirt-moving, aerial, lifting, and rental equipment . Advise customers on equipment issues, recommended repairs, and available solutions. Obtain customer approval and identify/order the correct parts required for repairs. Disassemble and reassemble equipment and components according to manufacturer specifications. Use hand tools, pneumatic tools, diagnostic equipment, and specialized repair tools. Perform quality-control inspections and operational testing following repairs. Follow proper safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out, blocking, and equipment securing. Plan repairs efficiently while controlling labor, parts, and overall job costs. Complete service documentation, parts orders, and return-part identification accurately. Maintain a clean, organized, and properly equipped service vehicle. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers while communicating service needs to management. Assist with coaching or mentoring less-experienced technicians when required. Participate in ongoing technical and safety training. Work overtime as required based on customer needs and workload.

QUALIFICATIONS

8+ years of hands-on heavy equipment repair experience preferred. Strong experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components . Experience with dirt-moving, aerial, lifting, construction, or rental equipment strongly preferred. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Ability to independently identify equipment failures and determine appropriate repair solutions. Experience using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, pneumatic tools, and specialized repair equipment. Ability to read and interpret service manuals, technical information, and written instructions. Strong communication and customer-service skills. High school diploma required; technical or trade school training is preferred. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to regularly lift and carry equipment, parts, and materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to climb, bend, kneel, reach, and work underneath equipment. Comfortable working in confined or elevated spaces when required. Ability to perform physical repair work for extended periods.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a hands-on field position involving both indoor and outdoor work. Technicians may work around moving equipment and mechanical components and in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity. The position may also involve exposure to high noise levels, chemicals, high-pressure systems, rotating equipment, and other conditions commonly found in heavy equipment and construction environments.
