Job Summary Position OverviewPN# 05902PUBLIC WORKS & ENGINEERINGRight-of-Way & Fleet Maintenance DivisionVariousVariousVariousSubject to changeDescription Of Duties/Essential Functions Transports personnel, equipment, supplies, debris and other materials. Transports personnel to and from work sites. Cleans and services vehicles and equipment. Loads and unloads vehicles. May clean and maintain inlets and other areas. Attends driving and safety training programs. May transport various materials to the landfill. Organizes and coordinates distribution of materials. May operate a variety of hand and power tools and heavy equipment (air blowers, sweepers, etc).
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a Department of Public Works & Engineering Emergency Management position at the Tier 1 Level. The position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items (up to 40 pounds) and very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis. There are routine exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture and air pollution. Requires the ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements within fairly fine tolerance and/or calibration demands; or the ability to make closely coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space within moderate tolerance demands.

Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to read, write, add, subtract and follow oral and/or basic written instructions as might normally be acquired through 9 to 11 years of formal schooling.

Minimum Experience Requirements Six (6) months of verifiable experience driving a heavy commercial truck or its equivalent.

Minimum License Requirements Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver License and in compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving.
PREFERENCES
Preference will be given to applicants with a high school diploma or
GED.GENERAL INFORMATION SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED
None. However, the department may administer a skill assessment evaluation.
SAFETY IMPACT POSITION
Yes. If yes, this position is subject to random drug testing and if a promotional position, candidate must pass an assignment drug test.
SALARY INFORMATION
Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
