Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Construction Equipment Field Technician to join our dynamic team. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy construction machinery and industrial equipment in the field. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills, along with extensive experience in servicing construction machinery such as excavators, Skid Steers, front-end loaders, dumps, and all earth-moving equipment. , and other OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) equipment. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work with diverse machinery, enhance technical expertise, and contribute to the successful operation of construction projects. Responsibilities Perform troubleshooting and repairs on heavy construction equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial machinery. Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire service, brake repairs, and hydraulic system servicing. Diagnose electrical systems using schematics and diagnostic tools; repair electrical components and wiring issues. Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other specialized tools to execute repairs efficiently. Test and calibrate equipment systems including transmissions, air brakes, suspension components, HVAC systems, and alignment procedures. Assist with fabrication tasks when necessary to modify or repair machinery components. Maintain detailed service records and ensure all repairs meet OEM specifications and safety standards. Support heavy lifting operations during equipment installation or repair processes. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly about repair needs and maintenance schedules. Adhere to safety protocols at all times to ensure a secure working environment for yourself and colleagues. Skills Proven experience working as a dealership service technician or in heavy equipment maintenance roles. Strong mechanical knowledge of construction machinery including excavators, cranes, tractors, and farm machinery. Proficiency in electrical diagnostics, automotive diagnostics, schematics reading, and troubleshooting complex systems. Hands-on experience with diesel engine diagnostics and repair; familiarity with transmissions and diesel engine repair is essential. Skilled in hydraulic systems repair, suspension adjustments, HVAC servicing, and brake system maintenance. Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently; knowledge of heavy equipment operation is advantageous. Familiarity with welding techniques such as soldering and fabrication for on-site repairs. Competence in using diagnostic software tools for electrical systems troubleshooting. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong attention to detail. Effective communication skills for interacting with clients and team members professionally. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using appropriate techniques or lifting equipment.
