Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as a Diesel Shop Technician and become a vital part of maintaining and repairing heavy-duty diesel equipment, trucks, and industrial machinery. This energetic role offers the opportunity to work with a wide variety of heavy equipment, including farm machinery, construction vehicles, and transportation trucks. As a Diesel Shop Tech, you will utilize your mechanical expertise to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. Responsibilities Conduct thorough diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems using schematics and specialized tools. Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, brake repair, suspension work, and air brake system inspections to keep equipment in optimal condition. Repair and replace mechanical components including shocks & struts, wheel alignments, and powertrain parts for trucks, heavy equipment, and farm machinery. Utilize fabrication skills for welding, assembly, and custom modifications to meet operational needs. Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers safely within the shop environment. Maintain detailed service records and documentation for all repairs performed; interpret schematics for complex troubleshooting. Assist with equipment repair and maintenance tasks involving hydraulics, HVAC systems on vehicles/machinery, and electrical system repairs. Skills Proven dealership or heavy equipment mechanic experience with a strong background in diesel engine repair. Proficiency in automotive diagnostics, vehicle systems troubleshooting, and mechanical systems repair. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques for fabrication and repairs. Knowledge of heavy truck repair including air brake systems, suspension alignment, wheel balancing, and tire service. Ability to read schematics accurately for electrical wiring diagrams and hydraulic system layouts. Experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes or forklifts safely and efficiently. Strong mechanical knowledge of transmissions, HVAC systems on vehicles/machinery, shocks & struts, and vehicle maintenance procedures. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with customer service aptitude to communicate effectively with team members and clients.
