Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics on heavy equipment using electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and schematics analysis to identify issues accurately. Conduct repairs and maintenance on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, air brakes, HVAC systems, and electrical systems to ensure optimal performance. Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to repair or modify machinery components as needed. Troubleshoot equipment problems such as hydraulic failures, electrical faults, or mechanical breakdowns using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manuals and schematics. Service a variety of construction machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial equipment to meet safety standards and operational efficiency. Perform heavy lifting tasks safely during repairs or component replacements while adhering to safety protocols. Maintain detailed service records and logs of all repairs performed; ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Qualifications Proven experience working as a heavy equipment technician in a dealership or service environment. Strong mechanical knowledge of construction machinery maintenance and repair procedures. Hands-on experience with fabrication, welding, electrical diagnostics, automotive diagnostics, and troubleshooting heavy equipment issues. Familiarity with OEM parts catalogs and schematics for Caterpillar or similar brands. Ability to operate heavy equipment such as excavators or cranes for testing purposes is preferred. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, alignment tools, tire service tools, and vehicle maintenance gear. Knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics and repair including transmissions, suspension systems, HVAC systems, air brakes, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members. Valid certifications in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment servicing are highly desirable; relevant licenses such as forklift certification are a plus.
