We sell and rent professional tools and heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, skid steers, lifts, generators, compactors, trailers, and other construction equipment. We are looking for a dependable and experienced Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician / Mechanic to inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair our growing rental fleet. Job Responsibilities Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems on heavy equipment, trailers, and rental machinery Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventive service Troubleshoot engines, batteries, starters, alternators, charging systems, lighting, wiring, switches, relays, and other electrical components Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, including hoses, cylinders, pumps, fittings, valves, and leaks Perform general trailer maintenance and repairs Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed Determine which parts are needed, locate suppliers, compare pricing, and order the correct parts Track ordered parts and follow up with vendors to avoid unnecessary delays Keep management informed about repair progress, parts delays, and unexpected issues Notify the owner or supervisor promptly when each repair or project is complete Clearly explain the work performed and identify any additional repairs that may be needed Complete repairs quickly and efficiently while maintaining high standards for safety and workmanship Prioritize urgent repairs to keep rental equipment available and minimize downtime Test completed repairs and confirm equipment is operating safely before returning it to service Prepare equipment and trailers so they are safe, clean, and ready for customers Maintain accurate service, parts, and repair records Keep the shop and work areas organized and safe Assist with equipment loading, unloading, and operational testing when needed Qualifications Previous mechanical experience required Experience with heavy equipment, construction equipment, diesel engines, trailers, or rental equipment preferred Electrical diagnostic and repair experience strongly preferred Hydraulic troubleshooting and repair experience is a strong plus Welding and fabrication experience is a strong plus Experience identifying, sourcing, and ordering replacement parts preferred Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus Ability to use diagnostic tools, read wiring diagrams, and trace electrical problems Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple repairs and complete work promptly Ability to work independently without constant supervision Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable performing physical work What We're Looking For We want someone who takes pride in their work, works with urgency, communicates clearly, and follows each project through from diagnosis to completion. A repair is not considered finished until the equipment has been tested, the work has been documented, and management has been notified. The right candidate will be honest, organized, hardworking, and able to work quickly without sacrificing safety or workmanship. Compensation will be based on experience and skill level.
