Heavy Equipment Service Technician

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Heavy Equipment Service Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment. Your expertise will ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably, supporting our commitment to excellence in service. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery, utilizing your mechanical knowledge and hands-on skills to keep equipment in top condition. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment such as excavators, wheel loaders, track loaders, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial machinery using OEM schematics and technical manuals. Conduct routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, brake repairs, transmission servicing, hydraulic system troubleshooting, suspension adjustments, and air brake inspections. Fabricate parts or components as needed using power tools, welding techniques, soldering, and assembly skills to ensure proper fit and function. Utilize electrical experience to troubleshoot wiring issues, sensors, switches, and electrical systems within heavy equipment. Operate heavy machinery safely during testing procedures or when performing on-site repairs while adhering to all safety protocols. Interpret schematics and technical documentation to diagnose complex mechanical or electrical problems accurately. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating repair status clearly and offering maintenance recommendations to clients or operators. Qualifications Proven experience as a service technician working with heavy equipment or industrial machinery; dealership experience is highly preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge across diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, HVAC systems, tire service, brake repair, alignment, and suspension systems. Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; familiarity with OEM parts and schematics is essential. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment for automotive diagnostics and electrical troubleshooting. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working in various environments; familiarity with heavy equipment operation is a plus. Knowledge of farm machinery and construction equipment. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong customer service orientation; effective communication skills are vital for success in this role.
