Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Technician to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and construction equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will help keep our fleet operational, minimize downtime, and support our ongoing projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity for technicians with a passion for heavy equipment, mechanical systems, and troubleshooting to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment including excavators, boomlifts, bulldozers, loaders, forklifts, and other construction machinery. Conduct electrical diagnostics and troubleshoot electrical systems such as wiring harnesses, sensors, switches, and control modules. Repair and maintain diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, undercarriage components, basic lube maintenance and HVAC units. Utilize OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics and technical manuals to accurately diagnose issues and execute repairs efficiently. Carry out fabrication tasks including welding, assembly, and modifications to meet operational requirements. Perform routine equipment maintenance such as lubrication, fluid changes, grease, and preventive inspections. Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic software to complete repairs with precision. Ensure all work complies with safety standards and industry regulations while providing excellent customer service to internal teams or clients. Assist with heavy lifting operations when required and support the training of junior technicians or apprentices. Experience Proven dealership experience or extensive background working with heavy construction machinery is highly preferred. Demonstrated ability in equipment troubleshooting across various systems including hydraulics, electrical systems, transmissions, and diesel engines. Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques such as welding and metalworking in a maintenance setting. Familiarity with OEM schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools specific to heavy equipment brands like Caterpillar or similar manufacturers. Strong mechanical knowledge of farm machinery, industrial equipment, trailers, boomlifts, excavators, forklifts, and other construction machinery. Experience in electrical diagnostics combined with automotive diagnostics skills is advantageous. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during repairs or inspections. Knowledge of water trucks and air systems. $28.52 - $45.00 per hour
