Job Description

The Virginia Construction Group is seeking a skilled individual to diagnose, repair and maintain its fleet of trucks and heavy equipment. (engines, hydraulics, electrical, transmissions, cooling, brakes, etc.) The position requires strong trouble shooting, tool proficiency (hand/power/welding), and responsible time management. Some situations will require field service. Job Responsibilities In this role, you will be expected to perform a variety of automotive and machine repair and diagnostic tasks, including but not limited to: Performing routine maintenance and preventive care. (oil changes, fluid checks, tune-ups) Read and interpret service manuals, electrical, and hydraulic schematics. Operate equipment for diagnostic and testing purposes. Repairing electrical and mechanical issues. Conducting comprehensive vehicle inspections and testing Communicating effectively with service advisors, foremen, and team members about vehicle status and required repairs. A basic knowledge of and willingness to abide by OSHQ regulations. Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks. Maintain a clean, organized work area and inventory. Qualifications and Skills The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both diesel and gasoline engine repair and a commitment to quality work:
Experience:
Proven experience as an Automotive Technician/Heavy Equipment Mechanic (e.g., 2+ years preferred)
Required:
Must have a valid driver's license with reliable transportation to our shop. A fully outfitted work truck will be provided for field work during work hours.
Skills:
Strong troubleshooting skills, mechanical aptitude, self-motivation, and the ability to work in a team environment.
