Job Description
Stay Hands-On Without the Full-Time Grind Piala's Nursery & Garden Shop, Inc. is currently seeking a dependable Assistant Mechanic to help maintain and repair our fleet of landscaping equipment. This role is ideal for a retired or semi-retired mechanic—or a mechanically inclined individual—who enjoys working with engines and equipment but prefers flexible, part-time or seasonal hours. If you take pride in keeping equipment running reliably and value a steady, well-organized work environment, we'd love to connect. What You'll Work On Our fleet includes a variety of commercial landscaping equipment, such as: Trimmers and blowers Small engine equipment Light- and medium-duty trucks Trailers and related support equipment Various tractor types Skid loaders Key Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance (oil changes, fluid services, filters, belts, tire replacements) Diagnose and repair small engines and gas-powered equipment Assist with general repairs on trucks and fleet vehicles Troubleshoot mechanical issues and recommend practical solutions Order parts and manage vendor relationships Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and parts purchases Coordinate offsite or specialty repairs when necessary Ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for daily operations Maintain a clean and organized work area Why This Role Is a Great Fit for a Retired Mechanic Flexible part-time or seasonal scheduling Steady, predictable workload — no flat-rate pressure Opportunity to share your experience and expertise Supportive team environment Meaningful, hands-on work that keeps you active If you're looking to stay engaged, put your skills to good use, and work on quality equipment without the demands of a full-time shop, we'd be happy to speak with you.
