Job Description
The City of Wisconsin Rapids has an employment opportunity for a Mechanic position within the Department of Public Works. This is a skilled position in the maintenance and repair of automobiles, trucks, and heavy equipment. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles, trucks, heavy equipment, small engines and other mechanical equipment.
- Operate a variety of diagnostic instruments to test and service vehicles and equipment and use a variety of hand, electric, and air-driven tools in the servicing and repair of equipment.
- Inspect, adjust, and replace necessary parts.
- Repair and/or replace brake, engine, electrical, fuel, hydraulic, transmission, ignition, air, exhaust, axle assembly, and related systems on vehicles, heavy equipment, and other various gasoline and diesel equipment.
- Change and repair tires and tubes.
- Provide emergency field assistance to disabled vehicles and equipment to include operating a tow vehicle.
- Maintain records, prepare reports and other records of maintenance functions.
- Assist in preparation of bid specifications for vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Make repairs to City buildings.
- Clean shop floors, tools, and work areas.
- Occasionally assist with street/sewer repairs.
- Other duties as assigned Requirements for this position include Valid Wisconsin Driver's license with CDL endorsement.
- Thursday 2:00pm
- 10:00pm, Friday 9:00am
- 5:00pm.
