Job Description
Overview Join our dedicated Public Works team as a Public Works Worker and play a vital role in maintaining and improving our community infrastructure. This energetic position involves operating heavy equipment, performing road maintenance, and supporting various lawn and groundskeeping projects to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality public spaces. Duties Operate heavy machinery including loaders, backhoes, and dump trucks to support construction, garbage, and maintenance projects. Perform manual handling tasks using hand tools and power tools for repairs, lawn maintenance, and general maintenance. Support traffic control efforts in work zones to ensure safety for workers and the public. Maintain equipment by performing routine mechanical inspections and minor repairs; possess basic mechanical knowledge. Follow safety protocols diligently during all operations, adhering to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations for commercial truck driving and heavy equipment use. Requirements Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks consistently throughout the workday. Familiarity with FMCSA regulations governing commercial truck driving and transportation safety standards. Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and performing basic repairs on machinery. Outdoor work experience in various weather conditions is essential. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred; experience operating Caterpillar or similar heavy equipment highly desirable.
