Shop Mechanic Job Overview This individual will be responsible for working in a shop environment repairing and maintaining construction equipment and fleet vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and various mechanical components. Position Prerequisites
- Minimum 2 years of mechanic / shop related experience.
- Must have experience with troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical assemblies and testing experience.
- You must have your own basic mechanic tools.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities a plus.
- Detail Oriented.
- Capable of reading variable schematic logic for both low / high voltage electrical and a variety of hydraulics.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments and holidays as required.
- Valid driver's license / ability to operate company vehicles.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities:
This individual will be responsible for working in a shop environment repairing and maintaining construction equipment. Troubleshoot and repair equipment - electrical, hydraulic, diesel and mechanical. Provide training and technical knowledge on full range of equipment. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities on equipment. Provide clear work order documentation and reports when needed. Ensure compliance in all company, safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries. Overall responsibility for keeping all machines running efficiently. Stay in constant contact with the Maintenance Manager and order parts as needed and as frequently as required to keep crews up to optimal performance. Perform all repairs as necessary, both emergency and permanent repairs on a daily basis. Maintain a set of tools required to perform the work. Provide support as needed to move equipment from jobsite to jobsite. Evaluate and make recommendations regarding required repairs. Provide a high level of communication with the Maintenance Manager and supervisory staff. Perform other duties as assigned.
