Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy construction and industrial equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will help keep our fleet operational, minimize downtime, and support our ongoing projects. Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics on heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, and other construction machinery using OEM schematics and electrical testing tools. Conduct repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, brakes, suspensions, and air brake systems to restore equipment functionality efficiently. Fabricate custom parts or modifications using welding and hand tools to meet specific operational needs or repair requirements. Maintain detailed service records, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, and interpret schematics to identify root causes of equipment failures. Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and HVAC system repairs to prolong equipment lifespan. Assist with heavy lifting tasks during repairs or assembly of large machinery components ensuring safety protocols are followed. Support heavy equipment operation when necessary to test repaired machinery or assist in field service activities. Requirements Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic with dealership experience preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge of construction machinery maintenance including excavators, cranes, tractors, and farm machinery. Proficiency in electrical diagnostics for both automotive and industrial systems; ability to read schematics accurately. Skilled in welding, fabrication, hydraulic troubleshooting, and the use of power tools for repairs or modifications. Familiarity with OEM parts replacement procedures and the use of diagnostic software specific to heavy equipment brands such as Caterpillar or similar manufacturers. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy equipment when required for testing or servicing purposes. Excellent customer service skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving and communication. Must be able to work on older model large Cat Dozers including
