Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Field Mechanic specializing in Heavy Equipment! In this energetic and vital role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of construction machinery, industrial equipment, and farm machinery on-site at various locations. Your expertise will ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently, keeping projects on track and clients satisfied. Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy construction machinery, including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractors. Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire service, brake repairs, and hydraulic system servicing. Troubleshoot electrical systems using schematics and electrical diagnostics tools to identify issues with starters, alternators, wiring, sensors, and control modules. Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding and hand tools to ensure equipment functions optimally. Test equipment operation post-repair to verify proper functioning of transmissions, suspensions, HVAC systems, air brakes, and alignment components. Maintain detailed service records and reports for each repair or maintenance task performed. Assist with heavy lifting and equipment assembly during repairs or installations to ensure safety and efficiency. Skills Proven experience working with heavy equipment mechanics in dealership or construction environments. Strong mechanical knowledge across diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspensions, electrical systems, HVAC systems, and brake repair. Skilled in using power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, schematics reading, and electrical troubleshooting devices. Experience with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts and service procedures for Caterpillar or similar brands. Ability to perform fabrication tasks including welding and soldering; familiar with heavy lifting techniques for large components. Knowledge of construction machinery maintenance protocols along with automotive diagnostics skills for complex repairs. Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients regarding repairs or maintenance needs.
