Job Description

Appliance Service Technician (ASTCON) We are seeking a reliable and experienced mechanically-inclined technician to help a small, locally-owned appliance repair company in Captain Cook. The candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, installing, and maintaining residential appliances. The technician will troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, communicate repair needs and recommendations to customers, and ensure appliances are functioning safely and properly. Hours Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (hours subject to change) Location Captain Cook, Big Island Pay $25 to $30 an hour, depending on experience Responsibilities Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with appliances such as refrigerators, ovens, ranges, dishwashers, washers, and dryers. Perform repairs and replace defective or worn parts and components. Install, test, and service new appliances. Use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and technical manuals to identify and resolve problems. Inspect appliances for safety and proper operation. Explain appliance issues, repair recommendations, and costs to customers in a professional manner. Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, parts used, and customer information. Maintain an organized inventory of tools, equipment, and replacement parts. Communicate with dispatch, customers, and office staff regarding scheduling and service needs. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Follow manufacturer specifications, company procedures, and applicable safety standards. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous appliance repair, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related mechanical experience preferred. Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and understand technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service documentation. Comfortable using hand and power tools. Good customer service and communication skills. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and clean driving abstract required. Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls throughout the day. Ability to lift and carry appliances or equipment as required.
