The General Services Department consists of several divisions in different locations throughout the City. The Facilities Projects Division manages new construction, additions, and alterations of City-owned buildings and parks. The Maintenance Division oversees the maintenance and janitorial services of City-owned structures and properties.General Services HVAC Technician Position Overview :
This is journey level commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning work performing maintenance, repair, and installation work on facilities and equipment. Work involves performing HVAC repair, maintenance, and installation work on buildings and machinery in City owned facilities, parks, and recreational buildings.Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:
High school diploma or GED certificate; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience and a minimum of four years of work experience in the HVAC trade. Possession of a valid driver's license. Must be certified by the Environmental Protection Agency with the state of Alabama. Must pass the written portion of the CDL, Class B Endorsement test within six (6) months of hire and/or promotion date. Must pass the driving test and obtain a valid CDL, Class B Endorsement within eleven (11) months of hire and/or promotion date. Must participate in on-call emergency rotation.
