Job Description
Environmental Heating & Air Solutions is seeking a highly motivated Residential HVAC Service Technician who possesses exceptional technical aptitude, outstanding communication skills, and the ability to identify opportunities that improve our customers' comfort, safety, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality. This position is designed for a technician who enjoys solving complex HVAC issues while educating homeowners on available solutions. The successful candidate understands that providing exceptional customer service naturally leads to increased customer confidence and additional sales opportunities. Primary ResponsibilitiesTechnical Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain residential heating, air conditioning, heat pump, and ventilation systems. Perform preventative maintenance according to company standards. Accurately identify root causes of equipment failures rather than simply treating symptoms. Evaluate complete HVAC system performance including: Airflow Static pressure Refrigerant performance Electrical components Combustion safety Indoor air quality Duct system performance Utilize digital diagnostic tools and manufacturer specifications to verify system operation. Complete repairs correctly the first time while maintaining a high level of workmanship. Maintain clean, organized service vehicles and properly stocked inventory. Complete all service documentation accurately using company software. Customer Experience Responsibilities Arrive professionally dressed and on time. Build trust through honesty, professionalism, and technical expertise. Clearly explain system issues using language homeowners can understand. Educate customers on repair options, equipment condition, expected life expectancy, and available improvements. Leave every home cleaner than it was found. Deliver an exceptional customer experience that generates positive online reviews and referrals. Sales & Opportunity Generation This position includes sales responsibilities through customer education—not high-pressure sales tactics. The Service Technician is expected to: Identify opportunities where repairs may no longer be the best financial decision. Recommend maintenance plans that provide long-term system protection. Present indoor air quality products when they solve identified customer concerns. Identify aging, unsafe, or inefficient systems that may benefit from replacement. Recommend airflow improvements, duct modifications, zoning, filtration, humidity control, insulation, or ventilation enhancements when appropriate. Generate replacement leads for the Comfort Advisor team. Clearly explain the benefits and value of recommended repairs and system improvements. Build customer confidence that results in increased approval rates and long-term customer loyalty. Technical Skills The ideal candidate demonstrates strong knowledge of: Residential HVAC systems Heat pumps Gas furnaces Air conditioning systems Refrigeration cycle diagnostics Electrical troubleshooting Airflow diagnostics Static pressure testing Refrigerant charging procedures Combustion analysis Indoor Air Quality products Smart thermostats and HVAC controls Building science principles Manufacturer installation and service procedures Required Qualifications Minimum 3 years of residential HVAC service experience (preferred) HIS License through
