Responsibilities Install HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, ventilation equipment, and refrigeration systems according to schematics and design specifications. Conduct system repairs and perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance of mechanical and electrical components. Troubleshoot equipment issues using hand tools, electrical diagnostics, ohmmeters, and refrigeration gauges to identify root causes swiftly. Interpret HVAC schematics, building automation systems, electrical diagrams, and mechanical drawings to facilitate accurate installations and repairs. Perform plumbing connections and ensure all piping meets safety standards while integrating HVAC systems seamlessly into existing building infrastructure. Test electrical systems and controls to verify proper operation; diagnose issues related to electrical diagnostics or system failures. Maintain detailed records of service activities, repairs, installations, and inspections for compliance and quality assurance purposes. Communicate effectively with customers to explain system functions, repair procedures, and maintenance recommendations while providing excellent customer service. Skills Proven construction experience with a strong understanding of mechanical systems repair and HVAC system installation. Service technician experience with troubleshooting HVAC/R equipment including refrigeration units, boilers, air conditioning systems, and building automation controls. Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and mechanical drawings accurately. Mechanical knowledge encompassing plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC design principles, and equipment troubleshooting techniques. Proficiency with hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, ohmmeters, vacuum pumps, refrigerant gauges, and other diagnostic equipment. Knowledge of electrical diagnostics including wiring diagrams and electrical system troubleshooting methods. Familiarity with HVAC system maintenance practices along with the ability to perform repairs efficiently under safety standards. Valid EPA certification for handling refrigerants; experience working with HVAC/R systems is preferred. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients. Valid van driver's license for transporting tools or equipment safely between job sites.
