Job Overview Join our dynamic team as an HVAC/Plumbing Apprentice and kick-start your career in the essential fields of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing. This paid apprenticeship offers hands-on experience working alongside skilled technicians to develop your technical expertise and mechanical knowledge. You will learn to assist with HVAC system installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting, as well as plumbing tasks, all while gaining valuable industry certifications. Duties Assist senior technician / owner with HVAC system installation, repair, and maintenance including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration systems, and building automation systems. Support plumbing tasks such as pipe installation, repairs, fixture replacements, and property maintenance activities. Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and HVAC design plans to ensure proper system setup and troubleshooting. Conduct electrical diagnostics on HVAC/R equipment using tools like ohmmeters and troubleshoot electrical systems to identify issues. Help diagnose mechanical problems in HVAC or plumbing systems and assist with equipment troubleshooting and repairs. Participate in field service activities including equipment repair, system maintenance, and emergency service calls. Maintain a focus on safety procedures and environmental regulations such as EPA standards for refrigerants and ammonia refrigeration systems. Skills Construction experience or background in mechanical systems repair is highly desirable. Familiarity with schematics, HVAC design principles, electrical diagnostics, and refrigeration systems. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools and welding equipment. Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and building automation system controls. Excellent customer service skills with a professional attitude when interacting with clients or property managers. Valid driver's license preferred for van driving responsibilities; willingness to learn property maintenance tasks. Certifications such as EPA refrigerant handling certification are a plus; ongoing training will be provided for necessary licenses.
