Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sheet Metal Installer to join our dynamic construction and HVAC team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining sheet metal components used in heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, and other mechanical systems. Your expertise will ensure that systems operate efficiently, safely, and reliably, contributing to the comfort and safety of commercial and residential environments. Duties Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings related to HVAC systems, ductwork, and mechanical installations. Install sheet metal components for HVAC systems including ducts, vents, and air handlers with precision and adherence to safety standards. Perform system repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting on HVAC equipment such as boilers, refrigeration units, and air conditioning systems. Use hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, welding equipment, ohmmeters, and other mechanical tools to assemble and modify components. Diagnose electrical issues using electrical diagnostics tools; repair electrical systems associated with HVAC/R equipment. Conduct equipment troubleshooting for mechanical systems including ammonia refrigeration units and building automation systems. Ensure compliance with safety regulations such as EPA standards for refrigerants; maintain proper documentation of work performed. Collaborate with service technicians on field service projects; assist in property maintenance tasks as needed. Experience Proven construction experience with a focus on HVAC system installation and mechanical systems repair. Service technician experience working with HVAC/R equipment or refrigeration units is highly desirable. Familiarity with schematics, blueprints, HVAC design principles, plumbing connections, electrical diagnostics, and building automation systems. Hands-on experience with HVAC system repair, maintenance, installation procedures including ductwork fabrication and welding skills. Mechanical knowledge of boilers, air conditioning units, ammonia refrigeration systems, and electrical systems is essential. Proficiency in using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, ohmmeters; experience with equipment troubleshooting is required. Valid driver's license (including driver if applicable) with a clean driving record preferred. Certifications such as EPA refrigerant handling certification are required; additional certifications in welding or appliance repair are a plus.
