Job Description

Job Summary/Company :
Sparks Group has partnered with a federal client to identify a skilled HVAC Technician II to support operations within a secure, mission-critical facility environment . This role is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of advanced HVAC and mechanical systems to ensure continuous operations, energy efficiency, and environmental stability . The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with complex commercial or industrial HVAC systems , along with the ability to operate independently in high-security environments. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain HSPD credentials and Secret Clearance. Active HSPD-12 and Secret Clearance are preferred. U.S. Citizenship is required.
Responsibilities :
HVAC Systems Operations & Maintenance Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair HVAC and mechanical systems supporting critical environments Operate and monitor heating, ventilation, air conditioning, chilled water, and utility systems Maintain systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards Perform preventive maintenance, calibrations, and system adjustments Equipment & Infrastructure Management Maintain and service equipment including: Chillers and boilers CRAC units and VAV systems HVAC controls and automation systems Operate and maintain gas-fired steam boilers and related systems Use specialized diagnostic tools to identify system issues and deficiencies Building Automation & Efficiency Monitor and manage Building Automation Systems (BAS) Optimize system performance and energy efficiency Support facility-wide energy and operational efficiency initiatives Inspections & Monitoring Conduct routine inspections of building systems and equipment Maintain detailed logs of system performance and operating conditions Identify and respond to abnormal conditions and system failures Emergency Response & Critical Operations Respond to equipment malfunctions and emergency situations Support fire/life safety systems , including disabling and re-arming alarms as needed Ensure maximum uptime and reliability within mission-critical environments Team Support & Additional Duties Mentor junior technicians and provide technical guidance Support continuous improvement and operational best practices Perform additional maintenance and operational tasks as required Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required 4+ years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting HVAC systems in: Commercial Industrial Critical facility environments Experience with: Chillers, boilers, CRAC systems, and VAV systems Building Automation Systems (BAS) HVAC controls (direct digital, pneumatic, automated systems) Current Journeyman License (DC) OR VMET Certification , or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and documentation skills Preferred Qualifications Completion of HVAC technical training, vocational program, or apprenticeship Experience working in: Secure government facilities Data centers Healthcare or other critical environments Physical Requirements Lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds regularly Move ladders up to 12 feet without assistance Work at heights up to 60 feet (ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts) Perform physical tasks including climbing, kneeling, crawling, and overhead reaching Maintain visual acuity (including color recognition) and hearing for safe operations Safely operate tools, equipment, and ladders in accordance with safety standards - This job is In-Person.
Pay Range:
