Job Description

HVAC Technician The Sandpiper Beacon Beach Resort — Panama City Beach, FL Full-Time | Hourly | On-Site Overview Keep paradise comfortable. The Sandpiper Beacon Beach Resort is looking for a skilled HVAC Technician to join our Engineering & Maintenance team and ensure year-round comfort across our oceanfront property. In this hands-on role, you'll maintain and repair the systems that keep guest rooms, pools, restaurants, and common areas running smoothly — from coastal-climate air conditioning units to refrigeration and ventilation systems. If you take pride in solving technical problems and want to make a direct impact on the guest experience at one of the Gulf Coast's favorite family resorts, we'd love to meet you. Working in a beachfront environment means you'll also understand the demands of salt-air corrosion, high humidity, and the heavy seasonal use that comes with a busy resort. Your work directly affects guest satisfaction, energy efficiency, and the safe operation of the property. Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC systems throughout the resort, including guest-room air conditioning units, refrigeration equipment, ventilation systems, and related mechanical equipment. Perform routine preventive maintenance — filter replacements, coil cleaning, system inspections, and calibration — to keep systems running efficiently in a high-humidity, coastal climate. Install and replace HVAC equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications, local codes, and safety standards. Conduct plumbing and mechanical repairs related to HVAC systems, ensuring all work complies with local and state regulations. Troubleshoot electrical components using tools such as multimeters and ohmmeters; perform repairs or modifications as needed. Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to service complex systems accurately. Respond promptly to guest and staff service requests, prioritizing comfort and minimizing disruption during peak season. Maintain detailed records of service activities, parts used, and system performance for ongoing property maintenance documentation. Qualifications & Skills Proven experience as an HVAC service technician with a strong understanding of HVAC/R (refrigeration) systems. Mechanical aptitude with experience in appliance repair, equipment repair, and general building maintenance. Ability to read schematics and apply HVAC principles effectively. Familiarity with the demands of a hospitality, multi-unit, or coastal property is a plus. EPA Section 608 Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). Strong troubleshooting skills across air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, and electrical components. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record preferred. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations during peak season. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces, on rooftops, and outdoors in Florida heat and humidity. Comfortable standing, kneeling, and bending for extended periods. Why Join the Sandpiper Beacon Work steps from the beach at a beloved family resort, with a supportive team, steady year-round work, and the satisfaction of keeping guests comfortable from their first check-in to their last sunset. We value proactive problem-solvers who thrive on technical challenges and are committed to continuous learning.
