Duties Install, service, and repair commercial HVAC systems including air conditioning units, refrigeration equipment and ventilation systems. Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to diagnose system issues accurately. Perform electrical diagnostics and troubleshoot electrical systems using tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters. Conduct equipment troubleshooting to identify mechanical or electrical faults and implement effective repairs. Maintain HVAC systems through routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and system upgrades to ensure peak performance. Collaborate with clients to provide expert advice on HVAC design improvements and energy-efficient solutions. Utilize hand tools and mechanical skills to repair or replace components such as compressors, fans, pumps, valves, and controls. Ensure compliance with EPA regulations by handling refrigerants responsibly and maintaining proper documentation. Assist with HVAC system installation projects from start to finish while adhering to safety standards. Support property maintenance teams by diagnosing issues related to plumbing or mechanical systems that impact HVAC performance. Requirements Proven experience in construction or service technician roles within the HVAC industry. Strong knowledge of HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) systems including refrigeration cycles and ammonia refrigeration if applicable. Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and building automation system diagrams accurately. Mechanical knowledge of HVAC system repair, installation, and maintenance procedures. Experience with electrical diagnostics using tools like ohmmeters; familiarity with electrical systems is essential. Hands-on experience with equipment troubleshooting across various mechanical systems including boilers and air conditioning units. Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling; additional certifications in HVAC design or electrical systems are advantageous. Skilled in the use of hand tools and mechanical systems repair techniques for efficient service delivery. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to operate a company van safely as part of field service duties. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety standards.
