Job Title:
HVAC Technician - Manufacturing Environment Job Description This role focuses on performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems and related equipment in a manufacturing environment. You will work with various freon systems, diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, and ensure HVAC equipment operates safely and efficiently to support production and facility needs. Responsibilities Work on HVAC equipment within a manufacturing environment, supporting both facility comfort and process-related needs. Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. Troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment, including diagnosing issues with compressors, fans, motors, and related components. Work proficiently with R-134, R-410, and R-404 freon systems, ensuring proper handling and operation. Hook up gauges and check freon levels to verify system performance and identify potential issues. Troubleshoot to locate most refrigerant leaks and perform appropriate repairs. Replace compressors, fans, motors, and other HVAC components as needed to restore system functionality. Braze piping during repairs to ensure safe, reliable, and leak-free connections. Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical issues on HVAC units, including wiring, controls, and components. Read and interpret building drawings and electrical schematics to support accurate diagnosis and repair. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of work performed using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Follow safety procedures and best practices when working with mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems. Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to prioritize and complete work efficiently. Support both indoor and outdoor HVAC equipment as required by facility needs. Essential Skills Hands-on experience working on HVAC systems in any environment; manufacturing experience is ideal but not required. Proficiency with R-134, R-410, and R-404 freon systems, including charging, recovery, and verification of proper levels. Ability to hook up gauges and accurately check freon levels. Ability to troubleshoot and locate most refrigerant leaks. Experience replacing compressors, fans, motors, and other HVAC components. Ability to braze piping safely and effectively during HVAC repairs. Ability to troubleshoot and repair basic electrical issues on HVAC units. Good knowledge of reading building drawings and electrical schematics. Electrical knowledge relevant to HVAC systems and equipment. Capability to lift up to 50 lbs as part of daily duties. Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with i-Vu (BACnet) systems is preferred but not required. Additional technical schooling or HVAC-related education is preferred but not required. Mechanical aptitude and experience with compressors, motors, and other mechanical components. Comfort working with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for documenting maintenance activities. Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is a plus. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing facility and involves working both inside and outside the plant. You will frequently work in very cold environments due to the nature of the HVAC systems and facility conditions. The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You will use standard HVAC tools and equipment, including gauges, brazing equipment, and diagnostic tools, as well as a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for documentation. The role requires physical activity, including lifting up to 50 lbs, moving between indoor and outdoor areas, and working around industrial machinery and building systems.
