Experienced HVAC Service Technician — Help Us Build Edwardsville Gibbel Home Services — Edwardsville / Metro East $28-$38/hour + performance bonus opportunities Want to do more than just run service calls? Gibbel Home Services is growing into the Edwardsville and Metro East market , and we're looking for an experienced residential HVAC Service Technician who wants the opportunity to help us build something. This is not an apprentice or entry-level position . We need someone who can take a fully equipped service vehicle, independently run residential HVAC service calls, take exceptional care of customers, and help establish the Gibbel Home Services reputation in this market. We're looking for more than technical ability. We're looking for someone with an owner's mentality. Someone who wants to be able to look back several years from now and say: "I helped build this." You Don't Have to Drive to Carlinville Every Morning If you live in Edwardsville, Glen Carbon, Collinsville, Troy, Highland, or the surrounding Metro East area, you won't be expected to drive to our Carlinville office every morning just to start your day. Our technicians take their company service vehicles home and can be dispatched directly to their first call. We want our Edwardsville-area technician working in and helping us grow the Edwardsville market. What Does "Help Us Build Edwardsville" Mean? We're not asking you to become our marketing department. We're asking you to help build our reputation one customer at a time.
That means:
- Delivering exceptional service
- Solving the customer's actual problem
- Communicating clearly and honestly
- Taking ownership of your calls
- Developing long-term customer relationships
- Helping customers understand the benefits of our Comfort Club
- Identifying legitimate replacement opportunities for our sales team
- Earning five-star reviews and referrals through great work
- Helping us understand what customers in the market need
- Treating the Gibbel name like it's your own Our Sales & Growth team will work to generate the opportunities. Your job is to make customers glad they called us. We Want People Who Think Like Owners You don't have to own the company to think like an owner. To us, an owner's mentality means:
- You take responsibility for the outcome, not just your part of the job
- You treat your truck, tools, materials, and time like they're your own
- You don't waste company resources
- You don't walk past a problem because "that's somebody else's job"
- You follow through
- You communicate when something isn't right
- You look for ways to make the company better
- You care about the customer after you leave
- You take pride in the reputation attached to the name on your shirt We want people who ask: "If this were my company, what would I do?" Then do the right thing. What You'll Do
- Diagnose and repair residential heating and cooling systems
- Perform HVAC maintenance and system evaluations
- Troubleshoot electrical, airflow, refrigerant, controls, combustion, and mechanical issues
- Explain findings and repair options clearly to homeowners
- Complete repairs correctly and efficiently
- Document your work thoroughly
- Maintain an organized and properly stocked service vehicle
- Identify legitimate system-replacement opportunities and turn them over to our sales team
- Help grow our Comfort Club maintenance program
- Build relationships with customers in the Edwardsville/Metro East market
- Take ownership of your calls from diagnosis through completion We Need a Technician, Not a Parts Changer We're looking for someone who understands how HVAC systems work as a whole. You should be comfortable independently diagnosing:
- Gas furnaces
- Central air-conditioning systems
- Heat pumps
- Air handlers
- Mini-splits
- Thermostats and controls
- Refrigeration circuits
- Line- and low-voltage electrical systems
- Airflow and static-pressure problems
- Combustion and venting issues We're looking for a technician who follows the evidence, finds the actual problem, and fixes it correctly—not someone who changes parts until the equipment starts running.
Being Good With People Matters Technical ability is extremely important to us. So is how you treat people. At Gibbel Home Services, our job is simple: We solve problems. Sometimes that's an inexpensive repair. Sometimes the right answer is replacing the system. We expect our technicians to diagnose accurately, communicate honestly, explain the customer's options, and let the customer make the decision. We don't believe in pressuring people into buying things they don't need. On-Call & After-Hours This position currently participates in an every-other-weekend on-call rotation . As our service team grows, our goal is to expand that rotation so on-call weekends become less frequent. We believe technicians should be fairly compensated for giving up their personal time:
- Additional compensation for being on call
- Double-time pay when running qualifying after-hours service calls
- A growing service team designed to create a broader and less frequent rotation over time Compensation $28-$38/hour based on experience and demonstrated ability.
We're also developing performance-based compensation designed to reward exceptional productivity, quality, and customer service.
Current additional opportunity includes:
- $30 bonus for every Comfort Club membership sold We want great technicians to have the opportunity to earn great money. But we will never build a culture where technicians have to sell customers things they don't need in order to make a good living. Take care of the customer. Solve the problem. Do great work. The rest follows. Benefits
