HVAC Technician Job Description The HVAC Technician is responsible for ensuring compliance with corporate and divisional policies and procedures, performing preventive maintenance work, and utilizing multi-skill capabilities to undertake other delegated tasks. The role involves routine mechanical tasks and preventive maintenance procedures on clean air centers, bio safety cabinets, and HEPA filters, including equipment decontamination throughout Lake County Operations. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance work as assigned and utilize multi-skill capabilities and expertise for additional tasks. Conduct routine mechanical tasks and PM procedures on clean air centers, bio safety cabinets, and HEPA filters. Decontaminate equipment and facilities. Take on more complex assignments with experience, including those indicated under Senior Environmental Technician. Utilize a full complement of mechanics hand tools and test equipment such as multimeters, flow hoods, photometers, aerosol generators, hot wire manometers, and various power tools. Understand HVAC theory and applications, interpret basic schematic drawings on mechanical parts, perform trouble analysis and mechanical repairs, and assist in installing ESE equipment/accessories. Familiarize oneself with Engineering Standards pertaining to HVAC and environmental systems and use CMMS functions for maintenance activities. Order materials and parts from the stockroom and initiate work orders. Support additional HVAC PM and project work. Essential Skills Proficiency in identifying location and routine operation of trained equipment. Capability to perform advanced mechanical tasks and PM procedures on HVAC/E equipment. High School Diploma/GED. Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC/E. Technical degree or relevant certificate in HVAC/E is desired but not required. Additional Skills & Qualifications 1+ years of experience in HVAC and preventive maintenance. Experience with airflow testing on HVAC units. Experience in a regulated environment (GMP). Basic computer skills including CMMS. SAP and Work Order Process knowledge. Why Work Here? Work Environment The position is 100% onsite at North Chicago, working within Tank Farms, waste management buildings, API Areas, and Production Areas. The daily work schedule is an 8-hour shift from 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM or flexible from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. While there is no remote work option, overtime opportunities are available for candidates. The role does not involve working with toxins, and interviews will be conducted onsite. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waukegan, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
