Position Summary The Controls Technician II is a mid-level technician responsible for the installation, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of building automation and control systems. This position works independently on routine assignments and collaborates with senior technicians, project teams, and customers to ensure systems operate safely, efficiently, and according to project requirements. The Controls Technician II serves as a technical resource in the field and assists with mentoring less experienced technicians. Primary Responsibilities and Duties Install, configure, test, and commission building automation and control systems. Troubleshoot and repair control panels, sensors, actuators, controllers, and related equipment. Perform point-to-point verification, system checkout, and startup activities. Read and interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and sequences of operation. Assist with programming modifications and system optimization under the direction of senior technicians or engineers. Diagnose system issues and implement corrective actions. Complete preventive maintenance and service activities on control systems. Document service activities, startup reports, commissioning records, and field changes. Coordinate work with customers, subcontractors, project managers, and field personnel. Ensure compliance with company safety policies and customer requirements. Provide technical support and training to customers as needed. Assist in mentoring and training Controls Technician I employees. Support emergency service calls and after-hours work when required. Perform other duties as assigned.
