Job Description

We are hiring commercial HVACR service technicians for a growing commercial contractor in eastern Massachusetts. This is a 100% commercial, non union company that has grown about seven times over, entirely organically, with no advertising. It carries roughly 300 service agreements, has strong customer retention, and turns work away. The work is steady and it keeps coming. They need three strong technicians now. Looking for experienced commercial service technicians. A Massachusetts refrigeration license is a plus but not required. If you are a commercial refrigeration tech or a commercial HVAC tech with real VRF experience, there is a seat for you. Either skill set works, and you will slide right into a specialized team as the company grows.
WHY THIS IS A GOOD MOVE RIGHT NOW
The company is about to double the size of its service department. About 20 more technicians are joining in the next couple of months, which means a bigger crew and more backup when calls stack up. The service department is also splitting into two specialized teams: a refrigeration team and an HVAC and VRF team. Specializing means you get deep training in one lane instead of being expected to master rack systems, ice machines, walk ins, and VRF all at once. You get better at what you do, faster. New leadership is coming in to run each team, a maintenance team is growing from 7 to 12 technicians, and the company is planning more expansion in the years ahead. More work, more structure, and real paths to grow.
Leaders grow here:
the company's current COO was promoted from within. The company is about 70% service, with a separate install division, so service techs stay focused on service.
THE WORK
Retail, restaurant, and supermarket service across eastern Massachusetts, including Boston, Worcester, and the Cape, with a focus on density around Boston. Chain pharmacies, chain restaurants, and accounts with 10 or more locations are the core of the business. Emergency service and service agreement work.
Refrigeration:
rack systems, walk in coolers and freezers, reach ins, commercial ice machines, display cases, and CO2 systems.
HVAC:
lots of rooftop units and split systems, plus VRF (Daikin, Mitsubishi, Samsung). Chillers and cooling towers are not a focus. No hospitals, industrial, school, or residential work.
WHY TECHNICIANS STAY
Family culture with big company resources New, well stocked trucks Tools for everybody Live Samsung and Daikin VRF systems installed in the office, with a different fan coil in each room, for hands on training and programming practice Paid continuing education and manufacturer training Technicians meet directly with ownership twice a year with no managers in the room, so you have a real voice in how things run Very little red tape Long tenured technicians who have been with the company for years A service coordination team (two dispatchers, a service coordinator, and a service estimator) so you can focus on the work Work mix of about 15% supermarket racks and CO2, about 40% walk ins, reach ins and ice machines, and the rest commercial HVAC. Variety every week, not the same call twice Three openings, so there is room for more than one tech to come over together
WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR
Commercial service experience in refrigeration or HVAC with VRF A commercial background. Residential and in house facilities backgrounds are not a fit for this role. EPA 608 certification Strong diagnostics and troubleshooting A valid driver's license and a clean driving record (company vehicle) You can handle the summer rush, when it is 100 degrees and the calls keep coming You want to grow in your trade and be somewhere for the long haul
PAY AND BENEFITS
$50 to $70 per hour depending on experience Company truck Tools provided Harvard Pilgrim health insurance with the company covering about 75% Company funded HSA, about $1,000 per family per year, and it carries over 401(k) with 4% company match Company paid life insurance and long term disability Dental and vision available at low cost Paid time off that grows to three weeks plus sick days Paid continuing education and manufacturer training On call rotation, with after hours split so no one is on 24/7 On call time is paid portal to portal On regular workdays, drive time beyond the first hour is paid, both the drive in and the drive home
THE PROCESS
One in person interview so you can see the shop and the operation. No personality tests or assessments. Decisions move fast for the right person. Background check, drug screen, and driving record review at hire. All conversations are confidential.
Pay:
$50.00 - $70.00 per hour
