Overview Join our team as an Oil Burner and A/C Technician, where you'll play a vital role in maintaining, servicing and installing oil heating and air conditioning systems for residential properties. Duties Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of oil burners, boilers, air conditioning units and HVAC equipment. Diagnose electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as multi-meters and troubleshoot electrical systems to identify faults accurately. Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, HVAC design plans, and building automation system diagrams to guide repairs and installations. Conduct routine inspections of mechanical systems, plumbing connections, electrical wiring, and HVAC components to ensure proper operation. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions through systematic testing and repair mechanical systems using hand tools and specialized equipment. Perform preventative maintenance tasks on HVAC systems to extend equipment lifespan and improve efficiency. Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs clearly, offering recommendations for system improvements, and ensuring client satisfaction during field service visits. Qualifications Proven construction experience with a strong background in mechanical systems repair and building maintenance. Service technician experience with HVAC systems including air conditioning, furnaces and boiler repairs. Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams; familiarity with HVAC design principles is a plus. Knowledge of electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting electrical systems within HVAC equipment. Mechanical knowledge related to HVAC system installation, repair, and maintenance; experience with plumbing is advantageous. Proficiency with hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and specialized diagnostic tools like multi-meters. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients. Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling; additional certifications in HVAC or boiler operation (oil burner certificate) are preferred. Experience working with building automation systems (BAS) or electrical systems is highly desirable. Ability to work independently in the field as a van driver or mobile technician; valid driver's license required.
